Kid Koala Goodness
I’ve had this album for quite some time but I was jamming it in the car this evening and felt I should spread the word to those who maybe haven’t heard of it. Some Of My Best Friends Are DJs* is a fantastic blend of hip-hop and experimental DJ rhetoric. If you have the extra 10-spot you should definitely check this out. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is quite good as well.

More stuff and things
I’m told this is one of the most difficult things in the world, buying a house. And whoever told me this wasn’t kidding. We’ve been going back and forth with an Underwriter that doesn’t seem to want us to get into a home. But all is not lost, hopefully tomorrow we find everything out and get to planning our move. I think that we’ll use Simple Moves again, we used them to get my wifes stuff out of her old apartment and they were inexpensive, quick and careful. But this really puts my mind to a standstill, I really need to take a “stuff” diet, get rid of a lot of things.
In the process of getting rid of things I am now able to buy or build things to replace them, this makes me happy. For over a year now I’ve wanted to remedy my desk situation, it’s too small for the double (and soon possibly triple) monitors I have running. I figured out how I’m going to design the legs so now all that’s left is to buy supplies, and get to cutting and staining wood. This has been my biggest downfall thus far. I suppose I’ll use this desk for my wife’s computer or possibly turn it into a bedroom entertainment center, that’s all up in the air at this point.

The client and You
I’ve been working with a client for one of those ASAP type projects, only they have kept changing their mind on the creative direction. With around two hours till deadline I was able to whip them out something that they liked.
Now if they would have allowed our creative input from the get go, we could have had time for any possible revisions. I suppose I’m just trying to be logical, that rarely works.

FinePix A825
Okay, so I finally sold my old Fuji FinePix S3100 today, it was a great camera for features and being a full featured camera I could have gone the lens route with it, but I never got around to buying lenses so what the hell did I need this monster for? Plus the image stabilization sucked out loud. I need something to snap pictures and go, and something that I can stick in my pocket. I took that money and reinvested in the FinePix A825 and am very thrilled so far.
This post is after just a dozen photos so far, but I’m going to let you see what I’m talking about. I snapped a photo of my cat/security guard Keegan in the Macro mode, low light with flash.
Here’s the thumbnail, click for the full size (I trimmed it down a tad because full size was over 3200px wide, cut it down to 2600px wide).
I believe that I will have a ton of fun photo-wise next time I take this out for a real world example, maybe next week’s Arch Rivals roller derby match…

iPod Nano
Well, it’s been a couple of weeks since I left the old shuffle behind for a 4GB iPod Nano, I have to say I’m digging it so far. I never really needed a solution like this until I lost the CD player in my car, it used to be just burn a disk in the morning and go! This is a bit better solution as I can hold much more music than a traditional cd would and have a lot more choices per day. However, I now have way too much to choose from so I’ve become a driving playlist hopper
But I figure I’ll get over that.

MacFusion
Okay, so being an Apple/Linux guy this sort of thing is right up my alley. When doing development I often like others have to download via ftp, edit, upload via ftp (I sometimes bypass this with Dreamweaver). Setting up MacFusion I can mount a remote machine as a drive and edit directly as if it’s a drive on my computer, this is very handy. I am sure I’m not the first person writing of it’s goodness, but I had to give it up to the developers on this one.
Go ahead and check MacFusion out and be sure to grab MacFuse1 from the link on that page. You will be happy you did, if productivity is an interest of yours at least.
MacFuse is the library needed for MacFusion or sshfs to run.

Earn cash online!
Okay, so it’s a shameless title, but there are a few ways one can actually earn money on the internet with little to no computer skills. So I’ve decided to check a few out as I’m not independently wealthy, I could always use a few more dollars in the old bank account. I will use this section of the website to post my results, hopefully weekly I’ll have a review worked up for you to take a gander at.

Observations of Undershirts
Today is dawned on me as I was getting ready for work, man, I need more undershirts. But that sparked a completely different train of thought as I brushed my teeth and got ready for work. When I was a little shaver (my term for a young man) I used to think my father was goofy for having seemingly hundreds of undershirts. We’re talking A-Frames[1], the classic whites and even coloreds when he was feeling daring. It’s funny when you start to realize that your becoming an old man, heading towards Eric Clapton Town as Henry Rollins would say. So now I know that I must hit the local Target or Wal-Mart and get myself some more shirts, I chuckle slightly but also am trying to come to terms with the fact that I’m getting on in this world. A man I once thought was a dork I now admire for all of his efforts and strength to keep our family together, I only hope when my time comes that I can fill those shoes the same.

Samsung m610
I have been using this phone for around a few weeks. I recently switched jobs and lost my free cellular phone, and as my wife using Sprint I figured I should get one too, that way we can share the M2M(Mobile to Mobile). My buddy works for Sprint and hooked me up on a referral program for very cheap and recommended I replace my RAZR with their m610, I’m very pleased so far, the audio quality is great, it’s actually thinner than the RAZR and I can use funformobile.com to upload my own made ringtones and wallpapers, so that’s pretty hip.
Likes:
Thinness
Sound Quality
Rubbery feel to the case
Battery Life
Dislikes:
Occasional Reset for no reason
I give this phone a 9.5 out of 10 in rating, it’s a solid phone with great features, and very tough for a slimphone.

mooTools 1.1 released!
The official release of mooTools 1.1 is out, and a really great demo page so even if you don’t know how/where to start, you can see how some of the base functions are done and create something really cool for your site, or integrate it really slickly.
Have fun and drink responsibly!
